HTC and Telus, a leading Canadian telecommunications company, are set to introduce to Canada the Touch Diamond in its new CDMA version

No complete and exact specs have been made available yet on the Touch Diamond CDMA variant, but the little information that’s been circulating suggest slight modifications on some aspects of the handset.

Basically, the Telus Touch Diamond let go of the original version’s UMTS/GSM in favor of a CDMA/EV-DO Rev. A. On the looks department, Canadian consumers will not be seeing the usual hard, angular corners that characterize the HTC Touch Diamond’s body, as the CDMA reproduction sports more rounded design lines and edges. The rear of the phone now has a matte finish which is both a visual and tactile enhancement. The new handset is also 9 grams heavier than the original, owing to a larger and more reliable 1440mAh battery. As a result, the CDMA Touch Diamond is thicker at 13.9mm. The screen and D-pad controller didn’t show signs of alteration, while Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional stayed in place as the OS.

The HTC Touch Diamond for Telus, priced at CA$149 with a new 3-year contract, will commence its Canadian market availability later this summer.
