The Cybershot range of Sony Ericsson mobile phones has now expanded to include a new, robust handset which has been launched on the Orange UK network. The Sony C702 has been released alongside the C902 and as you will notice from the model numbers the manufacturer has now changed the leading letter to fall in line with the camera focussed range.
Previously, all Sony Cybershot phones were branded with a 'K', examples include the Sony K850i and K810i, but now all future handsets released from this range will start with a 'C' for Cybershot. You may also notice that they have dropped the trademark 'i' from the tail end of the model name, not a features that looks to run throughout the manufacturers portfolio but certainly applies to the latest two phones from the Cybershot range.
The Sony Ericsson C702 is a dust and splash proof handset, the first of its kind in the Cybershot range which is known for its camera orientated handsets, it seems fitting as camera manufacturers have been developing water resistant and shock proof stand alone cameras for some time now - why not have a camera phone that you can use in demanding environments?
Users can use the C702 Cyber-shot in a range of different conditions, as its unique design means its both splash and dust resistant. This means that whether off-road or just off to the shops, the Sony C702 Cyber shot phone is ready wherever you go, whatever you do. After all, the best camera is the one you have with you.
The Sony Ericsson C702 is engineered to take pictures in any position, the camera key and the active lens cover are specifically designed and placed so that users can stabilise the 3.2 megapixel camera and capture the moment with one hand - perfect for an active lifestyle. Combine this with steady-grip materials and a wrist-strap provided in-box, and the Sony C702 really is geared to go more places.
The C702 integrates GPS and a range of location-based imaging services that really add a new dimension to taking and managing photos. When a picture is captures, information about where a user is in the world is automatically added to the image so they can always share their best moments with friends and family according to where the shots were taken. Alternatively, users can simply sort the picture through their photo gallery on the PC or on the web.
For those that like to travel, Google Maps for Mobile locates and guides them to where they want to go, enabling users to roam free with confidence. Use GPS to pinpoint their location and then get turn-by-turn voice guidance to a destination, find their way home or to one of up to 20 million points of interest.
Initially released on Orange, the Sony C702 is due to be launched on further UK networks in the very near future which will expand the amount of tariffs available to consumers, the bigger brother of this handset, the C902 has already been made available on O2 in the UK.
