Currently, the largest mobile phone operator in Latin America is the America Mobil SAB from Mexico. The company recently announced that they are planning the launched the second-generation iPhone in ten more countries in Latin America before the month of August ends.
America Mobil SAB said in their press release that the second-generation iPhone will soon be available in Colombia, Argentina, Chile, Ecuador, Guatemala, El Salvador, Paraguay, Honduras, Uruguay, and Peru. The locals of these countries will get hold of the 3G iPhone by August 22 this year.
When Apple Inc. made a deal with America Movil SAB, they became the first carrier of the second-generation iPhone in the region. The 3G iPhone was launched by the mobile-phone operator in Mexico last month.
Launching the 3G iPhone is part of the America Mobil SAB’s push into the 3rd-generation mobile phone services. This includes the services like the wireless broadband access. The company would roll out on more advanced networks that are based in UMTS/HSDPA technology across Latin America. America Mobil SAB’s 3G network is currently available in 15 different countries including Mexico.
When the month of June ended, America Movil SAB had reported that they already have more than 160 million wireless subscribers located in 17 countries.
