PhunkWare has released WritingPad, a handwriting recognition application, into the App Store. WritePad allows you to write anything on the screen, and it is translated into text. The text can then be edited, or sent to the Mail application to be emailed. It works surprisingly well, and can even handle more than one word at a time. It also has many settings that help you to configure the application to fit your needs.
Also, since WritePad has no keyboard, it uses sets of on-screen gestures that act as keyboard input, like backspace or select. For instance, to select all of the text, you swipe from the bottom-left to the top-right and back; then, to backspace, simply go from right to left.
When you first open the app, you’re greeted with a page that explains more of the gestures and how to operate while inside the application. Here are some screenshots of WritePad:
